Fuji TV is one of the main broadcasting companies from Japan. Until 1997, this company had its headquarters located in Shinjuku, Tokyo, but during that year they moved to an amazing new building in the artificial island of Odaiba. The new Fuji TV headquarters has 25 floor, a unique structure and it is earthquake proof, despite being built on an artificial island in the Tokyo Bay. The architect behind this amazing building is Kenzō Tange.
In my opinion this is a very interesting visit to do in Tokyo, so here are all the photos I took along thins building.
The best way for getting into the building is using this futuristic style escalator ^^.
When I arrived to the Fuji TV building I saw many students that were also visiting the building. As soon as the noticed my camera, they posed for the photo! :D
The ball in the picture is an observation room where you can see Tokyo from the highs. The ball is built with titanium. It weights 1,200 tons, is 32 meter wide and its located at 123 meters from the ground.
The structure of this building is just amazing. I think every architect should study this.
This blue dog is Laugh and it is Fuji TV pet. Laugh is a character that appeared at the humor show Warau inu no Bouken (笑う犬の冒険), literally meaning "The adventures of a dog that laughs". It was broadcasted from 1997 to 2003 and thanks to this show Laugh became quite famous in Japan.
One of the most popular sketches from the Laugh show was the Yatta! dance, a big phenomenon in the internet. It was one of the first videos to viralize in the net and it was basically a parody of some Japanese stereotypes.
Map of the Fuji TV building.
A very interesting thing in the Fuji TV building, specially for otakus, is the One Piece themed Baratie restaurant. Very soon I will publish a post with all the photos I took there ^^.
In front of Fuji TV building you can find Aqua City, a mall.
Views from the Fuji TV building. The Odaiba ferris wheel is very famous.
Going down again by the futuristic escalator.
Down we took some photos for the memories ^^.
We met the real life version of Laugh so we took a photo with him! ^__^
More visitors taking photos with Laugh.
I hope you enjoyed this visit to the Fuji TV building located in the Odaiba island, Tokyo!
